  • Surgery

Now I can't comment on the repair of it, However, having suffered from both of those in my life I recommend an aggressive physical therapy regimen before embarking on surgery. There is a way to heal these without surgery, and in fact, you will be doing much of the same PT exercises after the surgery is done. Food for thought. READ MORE

  • What are the best exercises after heart surgery?

Well, the first thing is to ask your surgeon what you are able to do. What are your restrictions? Second, do not do anything that will stress your chest until you are cleared by your surgeon. Third, you should only do exercises that are low impact and low overall stress to the body while allowing for long enough effort to get your heart rate up. Stationary biking can be good. Walking is the unsung hero of all post-surgery exercises. If you don't have something to do, Walk!!. You can walk a mile and get your heart rate up without stressing your body. Overall, choose something that can get your heartrate up without overly stressing your body as you heal and Most of ALL...... get clearance from your surgeon!!!!! READ MORE

  • Does this look infected?

  • What size lipoma should be removed?

A regular run-of-the-mill lipoma has no size which is required to be removed. A lipoma usually is removed when it is painful, causes difficulty with life, is unsightly, or has features that are concerning that it may be cancer. It is highly rare for lipomas to be cancer, however, it is possible. Most lipomas that I remove are ones that have started to cause people discomfort because of location such as on the beltline or a bra line or on their backs and it hurts when they lay down. A lipoma needs to come off when the person who has a lipoma does not want it anymore. READ MORE

  • Can you fix back hernia with a surgery?

That's kind of a wide-open question. Do you have a herniated disk? do you have a hernia in the soft tissues of the back? those are totally different kinds of hernias and would require totally different approaches. If you are talking about a herniated disk, there are a lot of conservative therapies out there but there are a lot of people that have undergone surgery as well. It is a hernia in the soft tissues of the back, then it will only get larger with time. They can be fixed with surgery but they are complex. Not for a novice surgeon. I am sorry if this answer doesn't address your question, it is just ambiguous. READ MORE

  • What happens if you wake up during surgery?

I cannot imagine a scarier situation than to wake up when you are under anesthesia. To wake up during surgery I guess I have to ask you what do you mean. Do you mean wake up and sit up and have full control of your body or do you mean just wake up in the middle of anesthesia? I'm going to discuss the second one more specifically cuz that's the scarier one. If you wake up while you're under anesthesia and your body is paralyzed but your mind is fully awake, you are able to feel everything happening and unable to react to anything. Imagine how scary that would be to have zero ability to react to something that is causing you pain. That's what happens when you would wake up during surgery if your body was still paralyzed. For the most part, the body is paralyzed completely during surgery in the likelihood of being able to sit up during surgery is extremely low. Hope this helps. Have a good day. READ MORE

  • Testicle removal?

I guess it depends on the reason you would want it removed. If you have cancer concerns or even cancer that’s present, that would be a reason to have bilateral testicle removal. With the wonders of modern medicine, testosterone can be replaced with injections. That would be a discussion with your Urologist. Sounds like a tough decision that you’re trying to make. I’m grateful you reached out for support. Best of luck to you in this tough time. READ MORE

  • Can you remove gallstones without removing the gallbladder?

You can remove the gallstones in theory, however, to remove the gallstones, you have to cut into the gallbladder. Once you cut into the gallbladder, you would have to close the gallbladder. Once you close the gallbladder, you now have a risk of that closure not working right. You now have infection risk and inflammation. All of which can cause further problems within the gallbladder. If someone would go underneath the anesthesia risk and surgical risk to open the gallbladder and remove the stones, that person should have the gallbladder removed. There is no way through minimally invasive means to remove all of the stones from a gallbladder. READ MORE

  • How long does pain last after spine surgery?

Now this one is a very hard one to answer cleanly. It depends on what part of the spine is operated on. It also depends on the reason why you needed an operation in the first place. Also, your adherence to recommendations by the surgeon to do physical therapy and everything afterwards determines the length of time you will feel pain. It's a hard question to answer, however, things that improve your pain or the smallest incision possible for the surgery. Physical therapy and strength that help support the repair. And honestly not using narcotic pain medication as those tend to create a pain cycle where more narcotics are needed. READ MORE

  • Many broken ribs from 7 years ago?

That is a complicated question. It's hard to say why you're having that kind of pain. It's possible that your ribs did not heal correctly. In that picture, it looks like you have a plate on your ribs. Is that the case? If so, you could have some abnormal scarring. The super sensitivity to touch may be caused from nerve injury or impingement from the accident and/or surgery. As tough as it sounds, physical therapy and desensitization of the area are recommended to help make life more tolerable after this kind of injury and repair. READ MORE

  • Pus comes out of my appendix?

I understand the concern for pus coming out of an incision; at least that is what it seems like is happening. This is a known possibility after surgery for an infected appendix. Make sure you talk to your surgeon and get the incision examined. READ MORE

  • Hole in stomach after missed shot of meth?

I'm not sure what you mean by missed shot of meth. Are you skin popping? You shouldn't be doing that. What has happened is the meth completely killed the skin in that area. It's called necrosis. The whole is left because all layers of the skin died. That needs to be treated with topical gauze and antibiotic ointment and allow it time to heal. READ MORE

  • Do you need surgery if you suffer from diabetes?

For regular diabetes, there is no surgery that can cure it. There is a type of diabetes that can be treated with a pancreas transplant, however, this is very involved and has significant long-term implications. Simply said, diabetes cannot be cured with surgery. READ MORE

  • How long does appendix surgery take?

  • Will my belly button look normal after hernia surgery?

That depends on how good your surgeon is. You will always have a scar, however, your surgeon and your surgeon's technique will determine what your belly button will look like after surgery. READ MORE

  • Orchidopexy procedure?

During orchiopexy oh, because of the anesthesia involved, the scrotum is completely relaxed. Stitches are placed through the scrotal wall into the testicle so that the testicle doesn't twist anymore. Because the scrotum is more relaxed, it's easier to manipulate the testicle and perform the surgery. Should it have been contracted, it would just be more difficult to dissect. Bleeding would not be affected by the scrotum being relaxed or contracted. I hope this helps. READ MORE
