Get to know Neurologist Dr. Marcelo R. Olarte, who serves the population of New York and New Jersey. Dr. Olarte graduated with his Medical Degree from a Medical School in Argentina in 1970, giving him over four decades of experience in his field. After obtaining his Medical Degree he relocated to the United States and completed his internship with Hunterdon County Polytech. He then completed his Neurology residency with St.Vincent’s Medical Center. Furthering his education he completed his Neuromuscular Disease Fellowship with Columbia University. Dr. Olarte is dual certified in Neurology and Neuromuscular Disease by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. To stay up to date in his field he remains a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology. He currently practices as a Neurologist with Mount Sinai and is affiliated with Lenox Hill Hospital where he holds an expertise in Neurology and Neuro-musculoskeletal care. Neurology is a branch of medicine dealing with disorders of the nervous system. It deals with the diagnosis and treatment of all categories of conditions and disease involving the central and peripheral nervous systems (and their subdivisions – the autonomic and somatic nervous systems), including their coverings, blood vessels, and all effector tissue, such as muscle. Neurological practice relies heavily on the field of neuroscience, which is the scientific study of the nervous system.
