I was scheduled for a colonoscopy today (8/19/2021 ) with Surinder Devgun MD at 20 Hagen Drive In Rochester NY. This was to initiate a workup for possible ileostomy reversal. However, when I arrived to the office at 7:00 a.m. I was greeted by an anesthesia nurse employed by Stefan Lucas, MD, president of Mobile Anesthesiologists of Western NY. She canceled the procedure, stating that the taxi service I had retained for transportation was against “the law,” which instead requires transportation by “someone who knows you." A little digging into Google produced no such law but did show the NY Dept of Health website, which authorizes licensed livery (taxi) drivers to provide medical transportation. I spent $198 in taxi fares, lost $200 in wages, and spent $75 for a useless covid test and must establish care with another GI MD before I can have schedule another colonoscopy. By that time Ms. Newton and her employer, Dr. Lucas, better hope nothing serious is found because if so they will be facing a lawsuit, not a complaint.
