Get to know Rheumatologist Dr. Sarah Thomas, who serves patients in Fishers, Indiana.

Dr. Thomas is a board certified rheumatologist who has been in practice since 2000. She is currently serving patients at Community Physician Network – Rheumatology Care in Fishers, Indiana. Ranked among the nation’s most integrated healthcare systems, Indianapolis-based Community Health Network is Central Indiana’s leader in providing convenient access to exceptional healthcare services, where and when patients need them – in hospitals, health pavilions and doctor’s offices, as well as workplaces, schools, and homes. Dr. Thomas is also affiliated with St. Vincent Carmel Hospital in Carmel, Indiana. 

In 1992, Dr. Thomas earned her medical degree from Sri Ramachandra University in Chennai, India. She completed her residency in internal medicine at the University of Louisville, where she served as chief resident of internal medicine. She then went on to complete her fellowship in rheumatology at the same university in 2000. Dr. Thomas served as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Rheumatology at the University of Louisville.

Dr. Thomas is board certified in rheumatology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Rheumatology is a branch of medicine devoted to the diagnosis and therapy of rheumatic diseases. Physicians who have undergone formal training in rheumatology are called rheumatologists. Rheumatologists, like Dr. Thomas, treat arthritis, autoimmune diseases, pain disorders affecting joints, and osteoporosis. There are more than 200 types of these diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout, lupus, back pain, osteoporosis, and tendinitis.

Dr. Thomas is married with three children. She enjoys the outdoors, hiking, walking, snow skiing, water skiing, as well as listening to music and reading.
