  • Is there a way to prevent getting STDs?

First, get an antibody test to if you have either of them if you have both already, then no risk to you. If you do have antibodies to both, then take precautions and use condoms. READ MORE

  • Covid vaccine after having Covid?

That depends upon your circumstances Ideally, waiting 2-3 months is likely to give a better immune response The vaccines can be given soon after infection, no safety issues, but your immune response will be less than a later vaccine dose. I am unaware of any definitive data. So if for some reason the dose had to be given soon, that is okay. But if no urgency, then wait a bit. READ MORE

  • Vaccination question?

I think that you can re-vaccinate with J&j or get one of the mRNA vaccines. No specific dangers that I am aware of. READ MORE

  • COVID-19 Rapid Test vs PCR Test?

Possibly you did not give a timeline. READ MORE

  • HSV 1 Positive IGG?

This means that you have been infected with Herpes Simplex I. Traditionally linked to fever blisters on lips (after an initial stomatitis) that tend to recur from time to time. Sometimes Herpes simplex I can cause genital herpes (usually itchy/painful blisters or ulcers) or even elsewhere on the body. Herpes simplex viruses are a lifelong infection that most of us have. Some have frequent outbreaks, others few or no outbreaks. You seem to be in the latter group. I suggest that you tell your future partner before intimacy that you have never had clinical Herpes, but that you have a test that suggests you have it.... And what about your future partner? Does he have Herpes too? READ MORE

  • COVID question?

    Yes G dickinson READ MORE

  • Bird fanciers lung?

This allergic disease depends on your degree of exposure. So how many chickens? Where will they be located? I think if down wind where their smell does not come to you, probably okay. If you have any contact with them, you should where a fitted N95 mask (meaning an N95 mask that has a tight seal around your face). Obviously, if you get them and you notice any allergic symptoms, then they would need to go. G. Dickinson READ MORE

  • Covid and radiology (mammogram)?

There is no interaction between diagnostic radiology and vaccination. You can do both on the same day. G. Dickinson READ MORE

  • What could this stuff eating away at my dads legs be?

I think your father needs to be seen by a doctor and if he is mentally impaired and not competent to make decisions, that you or someone else with his best interest at heart, be appointed his legal guardian Not easy and he will not be happy but he will be better G dickinson READ MORE

  • Covid question?

I think the accumulated information about transmission is solid. The time of contagion is for a day or so before symptoms and within the first week. Your family members should now be safe. The testing doesn’t seem to help. G. Dickinson READ MORE

  • Brown recluse bite?

Did you see the spider? It is possible a brown recluse bite could do this as could other spider bites, and staphylococcus aureus bacteria or even streptococcal infections can look like what you are describing. G. Dickinson READ MORE

  • Sars 2 in children to adults?

You do not say how old is the grandson. If an infant or a toddler, then significant risk that is hard to avoid. If an adolescent, then should be safe to be around with masking. If in between, then difficult to say. G. Dickinson READ MORE

  • Rabies question?

The fox did not seem rabid. He/she was hunting for dinner, she recognized a threat, and appropriately ran away. But even a rabid fox would be unlikely to transmit the virus to you in this manner. READ MORE

  • Is high blood pressure after COVID vaccine normal?

Not aware of any connection. You do not say how high or if persistent. G. Dickinson READ MORE

  • Vaccine in-between vaccines?

Just received this after your dates. Generally not a problem. If you change, I would have delayed the mmr by 30 days. READ MORE

  • A week ago my friend said he wasn’t feeling well?

I suggest that you notify the VA of his continuing and worsening problems and also that he has covid-19. I do not know where you are or where the VA hospital that he uses is located, but large VA hospitals are better equipped to handle emergency patients who happen to have covid-19 too. If they feel the local hospital is better for him, then go there. READ MORE

  • Covid booster shot?

To my knowledge there is no causal relationship between the vaccine shot you received and the development of psoriasis. But you should speak to your doctor and report the details of date of vaccination, type, lot number, and the date your skin condition emerged. Maybe others have had the same experience and by you and others reporting, there the connection will be recognized. Psoriasis is a common skin problem and your psoriasis onset may just be a coincidence. However, maybe there is a connection. the way we learn about causal relationships between a medication and a disease is by collecting data. So you should report. Psoriasis tends to be a life long problem but with many people having minimal disease, some severe and fortunately there is treatment. READ MORE

  • Steroid injection and tetanus vaccine?

You do not state your age, but you have had one tetanus shot and probably even others in childhood. So, I doubt you are at much risk if you did not get the shot now. And while the steroid shot may dull your response, I do not think you have any worry, especially not from a wine fence! G. Dickinson READ MORE

  • HIV/AIDS concern?

Yes, you can be helped. Mainly for the future, but since I think you were aware that it is unwise to have unprotected intercourse before you did, ask yourself why you did it anyway. Judgement impaired by alcohol or drugs? Judgement impaired by desire? Something else? Then consider how you can avoid the same situation in the future. I recommend that you be evaluated for not only HIV but also syphilis, chlamydia and gonorrhea. If you have not received HPV (human papilloma virus, do so now. Expensive but it avoids catching a malignancy associated virus. READ MORE

  • Questions about the Rabies vaccine?

I doubt you had an exposure. Your prophylaxis started 10 days after the exposure. An inoculation on the face 50 days ago = no infection. G. Dickinson READ MORE
