Get to know Internist Dr. Mark H. Stephen, who serves patients in Sterling Heights, Michigan.

Dr. Stephen is a top-ranked internist in practice with Macomb Physicians Group, a medical practice in Sterling Heights, Michigan. His life journey has nurtured his faith, knowledge, and interpersonal skills, and in return, has enabled him to become a competent & compassionate physician. 

His life experience has inspired him to realize that the human spirit can endure. He finds the proposition that the satisfaction of practicing medicine comes not only from fighting against disease but also from having helped that patient to live a better, healthier, more productive, and fruitful life. The doctor’s acclaimed career in medicine began after he earned his medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean in 2005. He then went on to complete his residency in family medicine at Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak in 2006, followed by his residency in internal medicine at Ascension Providence Hospital in 2007. 

Following his education, Dr. Stephen became board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine, a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Internal medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Physicians specializing in internal medicine are called internists. They manage and prevent common and complex diseases by providing comprehensive care and promoting overall well-being.

In honor of his clinical expertise, he is the recipient of several awards and recognitions, including Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2016, 2018), On-Time Doctor Award (2016, 2017, 2018), Patients’ Choice Award (2016, 2017, 2018), and Detroit Hour Magazine’s Top Doctors Award (2019).
