Dr. Adeni is a well-versed neonatologist with a particular interest in respiratory diseases of the newborn and neonatal ethics. One of his greatest joys in practice has been observing, first hand, the significant decrease in NEC with increasing breast milk usage in NICUs all over the country. “As a firm believer in the positive influence of breast milk in the care and development of preterm infants, I am very pleased to be practicing in a city that has access to high quality, dependable donor breast milk. I am honored to be associated with a prestigious organization that essentially sets the standard for milk banking in the country” as stated by the doctor.
Back in 1980, Dr. Adeni obtained his medical degree from Andhra Medical College in India. Upon relocating to the United States, he went on to complete his residency in pediatrics at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dedicated to clinical excellence, he is board-certified in neonatal-perinatal medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics, which exists to support and encourage the best possible health care for children by setting standards for medical training, assessing levels of competence, and encouraging pediatricians to stay up to date with medical knowledge and best practices.
Neonatology is a subspecialty of pediatrics that consists of the medical care of newborn infants, especially the ill, or premature newborns. It is a hospital-based specialty and is usually practiced in neonatal intensive care units. Neonatologists generally diagnose and treat newborns with conditions such as breathing disorders, infections, and birth defects, as well as coordinating care and medically managing newborns born prematurely, critically ill, or in need of surgery.
On a more personal note, Dr. Adeni has been married to Shubha Adeni, a pediatrician, for over 30 years. They have raised three children together (currently adults). The Adenis enjoy travelling, working out, contributing to charitable endeavors, reading, and have a keen appreciation of the natural world.
