In 1992, Dr. Chernoff attended Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he earned his medical degree. He then went on to complete his internship and residency at the SUNY Downstate College of Medicine, followed by his fellowship in oncology at the National Cancer Institute.
In 2000, Dr. Chernoff was recruited to Chicago to become the Chief of Minimally Invasive Urology at the University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center where he served as Director of Resident Education from 2005 until 2007. Additionally, Dr. Chernoff is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons as well as a prominent member of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons and the Society of Urologic Oncology.
Dr. Chernoff is board-certified in urology by the American Board of Urology (ABU). The mission of the ABU is to act for the benefit of the public by establishing and maintaining standards of certification for urologists, as well as by working with certified urologists to achieve lifelong learning for the delivery of high quality, safe, and ethical urologic care.
Urology, also known as genitourinary surgery, is the branch of medicine that focuses on surgical and medical diseases of the male and female urinary-tract system and the male reproductive organs. Urologists specialize in diseases of the urinary tract and the male reproductive system.
