Get to know Hospitalist Dr. Asm M. Rahman, who serves patients throughout the State of Florida.

A Florida-based hospitalist, Dr. Rahman is affiliated with UF Health The Villages® Hospital and UF Health Leesburg Hospital.

UF Health The Villages® Hospital is a 307-bed acute care hospital that has been serving residents of The Villages® as well as patients in Lake, Sumter and Marion counties since 2002. The hospital’s teams of physicians and clinical staff work together to offer specialty services, advanced technology and clinical studies — bringing world-class health care closer to patients and their loved ones.

UF Health Leesburg Hospital, formerly known as Leesburg Regional Medical Center and acquired by University of Florida Health in January 2020, has been serving the health care needs of the Leesburg community for 57 years. Their 350-bed acute care hospital is Lake County's largest tertiary care hospital.

Graduating with his medical degree from Beijing Medical University in China in 1992, Dr. Rahman completed his residency in internal medicine at Maimonides Medical Center in 2010.

As a testament of his continued education, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Hospital medicine is a medical specialty that exists in some countries as a branch of internal or family medicine, dealing with the care of acutely ill hospitalized patients. The primary focus is caring for hospitalized patients and co-management with other specialties. Hospitalists take an active part in medical care and ensure a safe discharge for the patients they take care of. They are being increasingly involved in administrative roles, given their expertise and collaboration with various teams in the hospital.
