After relocating to the United States, he completed his internship at NewYork-Presbyterian/Queens (1993-1994), his family medicine residency at South Nassau Community Hospital (1994-1996), and his second family medicine residency at Meadville Medical Center (1999 – 2001). 

Subsequent to her training, Dr. Ahmed received board certification in family medicine through the American Board of Family medicine (ABFM). The American Board of Family Medicine is a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice in family medicine and its sub-specialties.

Family medicine is a medical specialty within primary care that provides continuing and comprehensive health care for the individual and family across all ages, genders, diseases, and parts of the body. The specialist, who is usually a primary care physician, is named a family physician.
