Get to know Gastroenterologist Dr. Janardhan Bollu, who serves patients throughout the State of New Jersey.

A top professional in the field of gastroenterology, Dr. Bollu is concerned with the normal function of the digestive system; making sure that it is working properly to dispose of bodily waste.

Having been in practice for over four decades, he is affiliated with a number of hospitals in New Jersey, including Hackensack Meridian Health JFK Medical Center, St. Joseph’s University Medical Center, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital At Rahway, Chilton Medical Center, and St. Mary’s General Hospital.

With a broad educational background, Dr. Bollu graduated with his medical degree from Gandhi Medical College in India in 1977. He completed his internship in internal medicine at St. Barnabas Hospital in 1991, his residency in internal medicine at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in 1993, and his fellowship in gastroenterology at Veteran Affairs Medical Center in 1996.

Subsequent to his education, the doctor attained board certification in gastroenterology through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. 

Maintaining fellowship status, Dr. Bollu is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) and a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology (FACG).

Gastroenterology is the branch of medicine focused on the digestive system and its disorders. A gastroenterologist is a physician who has extensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders related to the esophagus, stomach, small intestines, colon, liver, pancreas, and biliary system.

Among his various awards and honors, Dr. Bollu is the recipient of Patients’ Choice Award (2008, 2009, 2012) and Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2012).

On a more personal note, he speaks many languages, including English, Spanish, Hindi, Urdu, and Telugu.
