Dr. William M. Costigan is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and fellowship trained spinal surgeon who specializes in comprehensive treatment of the spine. Moreover, Dr. Costigan serves as Assistant Professor at the USC School of Medicine in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery. Academically, Dr. Costigan received his medical degree summa cum laude from the University of Southern California and went on to complete his residency in orthopedic surgery at the LAC+USC Medical Center, where he served as department Chief Resident, and received the Resident of the Year Award.
Following the completion of his orthopedic training, he completed a year-long fellowship in spinal surgery at the University of Southern California’s Center for Orthopedic Spinal Surgery.
With an unwavering commitment to his specialty, the doctor is board-certified in orthopedic surgery and spine surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.
Continuously advancing his efforts, he is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and the North American Spine Society.
With a passion for teaching, Dr. Costigan serves as an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the USC School of Medicine and also travels internationally on humanitarian medical missions to India, Africa, and Peru performing spinal surgery on the less-privileged around the world.
