OU Medicine is the collaboration of The University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, OU Physicians, OU Medical Center and The Children’s Hospital. The University of Oklahoma College of Medicine was founded in 1900 as a medical department of the University of Oklahoma at its main campus in Norman. In the 1970s, a geographically separate, community-based clinical campus was established in Tulsa, approximately 100 miles northeast of the main campus. Referred to as the OU College of Medicine, the college is the only medical school in Oklahoma that grants the Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree. Dr. Bingham began her career as high school teacher. After teaching in the public school system for seventeen years, Dr. Bingman followed her heart and become a physician and psychiatrist Having taught children on the high school level, she gained a unique perspective in treating children and teens. Dr. Bingham completed her general psychiatry residency at UT Southwestern Medical Center. The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center is a medical education and biomedical research institution in Dallas, Texas, She went on to gain a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Utah Affiliated Hospitals, in Salt Lake City. Dr. Bingman received board certification in psychiatry with an added qualification in child and adolescent psychiatry from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and remains at the forefront of her challenging specialty through professional memberships and affiliations with prestigious professional societies and associations, including the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the American Psychological Association. Additionally, she is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in psychiatry as well as child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
