    Thank you for the question. The imaging does show arthritis in your neck region of your spine. I would expect certainly Right sided arm symptoms as the arthritis is more on the right side. There is moderate central narrowing but the cord is not severely compressed. But it is getting there and given your young age, this could progress over time If your right sided weakness is worsening in your arm, then you could try a cervical epidural injection to see if that works. If not, then likely a C4-7 acdf or posterior c4-7 fusion or posterior c4-7 decompression alone without fusion may be best READ MORE

    No mass means no tumor or lesion that should not be there such as a tumor, blood vessel lesion, etc. READ MORE

    I would recommend you to ED today and have a CT head and potentially an MRI brain to rule out any abnormalities in the brain. That is the most prudent thing to do right now. If those are negative, then perhaps alternative diagnoses can be entertained thx. READ MORE

    Thank you for the question. You need to treat each of these symptoms separately and always remain positive. There are various medications for nausea and vertigo as well as depression. Just need to keep ahead of these by managing your stress and taking medications as needed. You will do fine as long as you stay focused and stay positive. READ MORE

    I don't think you had a concussion. You did not lose consciousness but were shaken, and you don't have neurological deficits. Your headaches are likely from the direct impact to the head and should resolve over 3 months but flare-ups may occur I think you will be fine but if you have any severe worsening of any symptoms, can go to ER to get a CT head to make sure.     Interesting case. I believe that most of your symptoms are migrainous in nature. But certainly, a CT head is warranted to make sure no intracranial pathology is present. I would have you evaluated by a neurologist first, then plan treatment thereafter. READ MORE

Caring for every one of his patients, Dr. Kaloostian has successfully treated thousands of people and helped them take control of their health. Prior to his current endeavours, he served as an attending neurosurgeon within the Department of Neurosurgery at Kaiser Permanente Medical Group, a Locums neurosurgeon at Desert Spine and Neurosurgical Institute, a Locums neurosurgeon at Peninsula Regional Medical Center, a Locums neurosurgeon at Eastern Maine Medical Center, a Locums neurosurgeon at Mercy Medical Center, and as an Assistant Professor III of Neurosurgery at the University of California at Riverside.

Dr. Kaloostian attended Providence High School, a national blue ribbon high school, where his interest in neurosciences began. He spent his summers studying neuroscience, physics, and organic chemistry at Brown University, Stanford University, and Harvard University. He then matriculated into the extremely competitive University of California BS/BA/MD accelerated program out of high school. This rigorous 7-year program is the only one of its kind in California and one of a handful across the United States.

After finishing medical school at the prestigious David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, he attended the University of New Mexico Medical Center for his residency in neurological surgery where he excelled in cranial and spinal surgery, including neuro-trauma. He then completed a prestigious instructorship in complex spine and spinal oncology under the mentorship of the renowned Ziya Gokaslan MD, FACS at The Johns Hopkins Hospital.  

With a love for medicine and neurosurgery, Dr. Kaloostian is board-certified through the American Board of Neurological Surgery, whose broad aim is to encourage the study, improve the practice, elevate the standards and advance the science of neurological surgery and thereby serve the cause of public health.

Maintaining professional competence, he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurological Surgeons (FAANS) and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). 

Having served on over 20 local and national leadership committees, Dr. Kaloostian had been elected twice to serve as the only surgical resident representative on the National Surgical Caucus Executive Committee. He has also been very involved locally and nationally in medical care health policy, with publications and oral presentations at national conferences.
