Dr. Marcus P. Haw, a congenital cardiac surgeon, is Co-Director of the Karl and Patricia Betz Congenital Heart Center and Department Chief for Cardiothoracic Surgery at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital. He also extends his services to the prestigious team at Spectrum Health Hospital Heart and Lung Transplant Clinic, further solidifying his reputation as a leading expert in the field. 

With a distinguished career spanning across continents, Dr. Haw is renowned for his expertise in congenital cardiac surgery, particularly in pediatric and adult cases. His clinical interests include Fontan circulation, biventricular repair in borderline cases, cardiopulmonary bypass, and right ventricular function.

Originally from the United Kingdom, Dr. Haw obtained his Medical Degree from Charing Cross Hospital Medical School in London, graduating from the University of London. He then went on to complete his surgical residencies at esteemed institutions such as Charing Cross Hospital and Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in Scotland. Dr. Haw further honed his skills through specialized residencies in adult and pediatric cardiac surgery at prominent hospitals in the United Kingdom, including Birmingham, Southampton, Hammersmith, and Great Ormond Street hospitals.

As a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) and the European Connective Tissue Societies (FECTS), Dr. Haw’s commitment to excellence and patient care is evident in his extensive training and qualifications. His dedication to advancing the field of congenital cardiac surgery led him to pursue a traveling fellowship in the United States, where he gained valuable insights and experience that complement his already impressive skill set.
