Get to know Family Physician Dr. Umer Ahmed, who serves patients throughout the State of Texas.

Specializing in hospital medicine, Dr. Ahmed is a board-certified family physician who is licensed to practice medicine in Texas and North Carolina.

At present, he is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the Houston area, including HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest, St. Joseph Medical Center, Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, Memorial Hermann Northeast, Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital, University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, and Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center.

Academically, Dr. Ahmed received his medical degree from University of Illinois at Chicago School of Medicine in 2012. He then went on to earn his Master of Business Administration degree in Healthcare Management from Columbia University in 2014, after which he pursued his residency in family medicine with the Duke/FAHEC Family Practice Residency Program in 2015.

Following his training, the doctor attained board certification in family medicine through the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). The ABFM is a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice in family medicine and its sub-specialties.

Family medicine is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive health care for people of all ages. The specialist is called a family physician or family doctor. A family physician is often the first person a patient sees when seeking healthcare services. They examine and treat patients with a wide range of conditions and refer those with serious ailments to a specialist or appropriate facility.
