Get to know Surgical Oncologist Maureen P. McEvoy, who serves patients in Bronx, New York. As a breast surgical oncologist, Dr. McEvoy specializes in diagnosing, staging, and treating cancer-related symptoms. She decides if a patient is a candidate for surgery or other type of cancer treatment based on certain factors such as age, overall health, and other possible co-existing medical conditions. She also uses various surgical techniques to treat breast cancer and benign conditions, including breast pain, fibrocystic disease, as well as masses such as fibroadenoma. For patients who are considering prophylactic mastectomy, Dr. McEvoy collaborates with counselors on genetic testing and decision-making strategies for risk-reducing surgery. Dr. McEvoy received her medical degree in 2007 from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City, New York. Thereafter, she went on to complete her residency in General Surgery at Montefiore Medical Center, followed her fellowship training in Breast Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. McEvoy currently practices as a Surgical Oncologist with Montefiore Einstein Center for Cancer Care, specializing in Breast Surgery.
