Get to know Dr. Frederick Wood, esteemed Doctor of Dental Surgery who creates and maintains healthy smiles.

Since 1992, Dr. Wood and his team at Wood Family Dentistry have been dedicated to providing patients of all ages with comprehensive and modern dentistry services. Dr. Woods’ extensive experience and education began when he earned his undergraduate degree at Arizona State (ASU) with dual degrees in Biology and Chemistry and where he was named a member of the elite 4.0 club as well as the Beta Beta Beta Biological Sciences Honor Society. He went on to earn his PhD at the University of California, Berkeley, the Public Research University founded in 1868 and the flagship institution of the ten research universities affiliated with the University of California system. Dr. Wood earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry; University of the Pacific, a nationally renowned institution committed to a world-class dental education, located in downtown San Francisco, CA.  

For some time Dr. Wood continues to live and raise a family in the Bay area, but when his children became school-aged and having grown up in Tempe and the surrounding region, it made sense for him to put down more permanent roots and open a dental practice in his hometown.

Dr. Wood and his team are highly sought after for general and cosmetic dentistry for both preventative and aesthetic needs. He has always had an exceptional work ethic and treats patients like family – those with serious dental issues as well as those in need of regular checkups and routine procedures. He is highly regarded for his outstanding cosmetic work and performs dental procedures to correct or restore discolored, chipped, uneven missing teeth.

Dr. Wood is specially trained in administering Invisalign to patients. Invisalign is used for a variety of dental problems, from mild cases of crooked teeth to more serious problems involving malocclusion, overbite and underbite.

Dr. Wood continues his professional educational and keeps up with the latest in innovative, modern dental practices regarding TMJ dysfunction, implants, and orthodontics.

Dr. Wood is a member of some of the most prestigious organizations in dentistry. He is a member of the International Association of Dental Research, American Dental Association, American Society of Dentistry for Children, Arizona Dental Association,  American Association of Functional Orthodontics, Clinical Foundation of Orthopedics and Orthodontics, Academy of General Dentistry and American Academy of Functional Orthodontics.

He is dedicated to his community and was elected to the Tempe Union High School Board, and later President of the Tempe Union High School Board. He also chaired the Planning and Zoning Commission for the City of Tempe. He has held the position of the Vice-President for the Tempe Community Council and has been a member of Tempe All-City Athletic Association since 1985, having served as the president, early on.
