Prior to medical school, Dr. Eil received a Bachelor of Arts degree with Distinction in Chemistry and Honors in Philosophy at the University of Rochester (1968), as well as a PhD degree in Biochemistry from the University of Chicago (1972).
Dr. Eil is board certified in internal medicine, as well as the subspecialty of endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism, with the American Board of Internal Medicine. The American Board of Internal Medicine is a 501 nonprofit, self-appointed physician-evaluation organization that certifies physicians practicing internal medicine and its subspecialties.
Endocrinology is a branch of biology and medicine dealing with the endocrine system, its diseases, and its specific secretions known as hormones.
President of the Diabetes and Endocrine Society of Rhode Island, Dr. Eil is also a retired Captain in the US Naval Reserve. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, as well as a member of the American Society of Clinical Investigation and the Endocrine Society. Dr. Eil is also the recipient of the 1985 Peter Forsham Award of the Society of Uniformed Endocrinologists. He remains an active author, presenter, and lecturer.
