Get to know Nephrologist Dr. Edgar R. Escasinas, who serves patients in Roanoke, Virginia. For more than 16 years, Dr. Escasinas has been serving patients at Valley Nephrology Associates (VNA), located in Roanoke, Virginia. VNA has been caring for patients in Southwest Virginia for over 40 years, specializing in the treatment of kidney disease and high blood pressure. Dr. Escasinas received his medical degree in 1976 from Cebu Institute of Medicine in Cebu City, Philippines. He completed additional training in Internal Medicine at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI, and in Nephrology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. In addition to English, Dr. Escasinas speaks Filipino. Nephrology is a specialty of medicine and pediatrics that concerns itself with the kidneys: the study of normal kidney function and kidney disease, the preservation of kidney health, and the treatment of kidney disease, from diet and medication to renal replacement therapy. Nephrologists, like Dr. Escasinas, have advanced training in treating kidney disease.
