Get to know Family Physician Dr. William B. Eggleston III, who serves patients in Virginia.

Having always had an interest in rural medicine, Dr. Eggleston III is a full-time family physician with Blackstone Family Practice Center in Blackstone, Virginia. As a part of Bon Secours, the Center specializes in family medicine and provides compassionate primary care through all stages of life.  

Before embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Eggleston III earned his undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering at Virginia Commonwealth University before continuing on to earn his medical degree at the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. He completed his medical training with Bon Secours St. Francis Family Medicine Residency Program.

A member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the doctor is board-certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine, a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice in family medicine and its sub-specialties. He is also particularly interested in the field of endocrinology.

Family medicine is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive health care for people of all ages. The specialist is called a family physician or family doctor. A family physician is often the first person a patient sees when seeking healthcare services. They examine and treat patients with a wide range of conditions and refer those with serious ailments to a specialist or appropriate facility. 

In his spare time, Dr. Eggleston III enjoys reading, history, and cooking. He claims he is still trying to create the “quintessential jerk chicken.” He also enjoys working with the Boy Scouts of America and teaching orienteering skills, knot tying, and first aid.
