Get to know Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr. Judy Hall Chen, who serves patients in Los Angeles, California.
Dr. Chen is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist with an interest in minimally invasive surgery, medical technology integration/development, and medical education in the changing social structure of healthcare delivery. She is currently providing outstanding services as a Subject Matter Expert for women’s health service needs at the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services, which she joined in 2013. The Los Angeles County Department of Health Services operates the public hospitals and clinics in Los Angeles County, and is the United States’ second largest municipal health system, after NYC Health + Hospitals.
In addition to her work with the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services, Dr. Chen is affiliated with The Martin Luther King Jr. Outpatient Center in Los Angeles, California, and Harbor UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, California.
Previously, she served as an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at The Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California, where she was honored with the 2013 National Faculty Award for Excellence in Resident Education by the Council on Resident Education in OB/GYN. Her work as an academic practitioner places a great emphasis on Management Information System (MIS) approaches in the clinical aspects of medicine, as well as technology integration into all aspects of medicine, including clinical, investigational, and workflow efficiencies. She has research interests in the impact of big data analysis and data mining capacity upon both population health assessment and evidence-based medicine interpretation/application.
After earning her medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine in 2006, Dr. Chen went on to complete her residency in obstetrics and gynecology with the LAC+USC Medical Center, before undertaking her fellowship with the University of Southern California.
She also received board certification in obstetrics and gynecology from the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and maintains active professional society memberships with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American Medical Association, and the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists.
Obstetrics and Gynecology is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics (covering pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period) and gynecology (covering the health of the female reproductive system – vagina, uterus, ovaries, and breasts).
