Get to know Emergency Physician Dr. Justin Grill, who serves patients in Muskegon, Michigan.

Dr. Grill is an osteopathic physician specializing in emergency medicine. He holds the esteemed position of Chief Medical Officer at Trinity Health Muskegon Hospital, where he plays a pivotal role in shaping and enhancing the healthcare services provided to the community. 

Prior to his current endeavors, Dr. Grill served in various capacities for Mercy Health, including work in the urgent care centers, as attending physician for Emergency Health Partners, and as managing partner for Lake Michigan Emergency Specialists, where he led the merger of two long standing medicine groups into a singular combined independent practice.

As director of medical education for Mercy Health Muskegon, Dr. Grill oversaw the growth of the residency program from three programs to five, including the addition of two fellowships. He also led the Mercy Health Graduate Medical Education programs accreditation transition from the American Osteopathic Association to the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.

Academically, Dr. Grill graduated with his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree from the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2007. He then went on to perform his internship at Mercy Health Partners – Muskegon General Campus, and his residency at Oakwood Southshore Medical Center.

With years of experience, the doctor is board certified in emergency medicine by the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine (AOBEM). The AOBEM is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of acutely ill patients with advanced cardiac life support, trauma, and the management of other life-threatening medical issues (emergency physicians).

On a professional level, Dr. Grill is a member of the American Association for Physician Leadership, the Michigan State Medical Society, the Association for Hospital Medical Education, and the American Osteopathic Association.

Emergency medicine, also known as accident and emergency medicine, is the medical specialty concerned with the care of illnesses or injuries requiring immediate medical attention. An emergency physician is a physician who works at an emergency department to care for acutely ill or injured patients. They care for unscheduled and undifferentiated patients of all ages.
