Get to know Cardiothoracic Surgeon Dr. David Duncan, who serves patients in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

An experienced cardiothoracic surgeon, Dr. Duncan is affiliated with Novant Health Cardiothoracic Surgeons. His areas of clinical expertise include aortic aneurysm repair, atrial fibrillation, and heart/CABG surgery.

Earning his medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville in 1984, Dr. Duncan went on to complete his internship and residency in general surgery at the University of Florida – Jacksonville, where he also completed a fellowship in gastroenterology. Finally, he completed his fellowship in thoracic surgery at Shands Jacksonville Medical Center.

With over 30 years of experience in his field, the doctor is board-certified in thoracic and cardiac surgery by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, which is an American surgical organization devoted to surgery of the chest.

Licensed to practice medicine in North Carolina, Dr. Duncan can also be found on staff at Forsyth Medical Center and Salem VA Medical Center.

Cardiothoracic surgery is the field of medicine involved in the surgical treatment of organs inside the thorax. Cardiothoracic surgeons are medical doctors who specialize in surgical procedures inside the thorax, which may involve the heart, lungs, esophagus, and other organs in the chest.
