Born in Pocatello, Idaho but raised in Oklahoma, Dr. Whitworth earned his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. Upon graduation, he completed his internship in general surgery at the Oregon Health Science University in Portland, Oregon. He then came to Newark, New Jersey for his residency in dermatology at the New Jersey Medical School.
After completing his residency, he completed two fellowships: one in dermatopathology (at the New Jersey Medical School), and the other in Mohs surgery and hair transplantation (with Dr. Dough Stough in Hot Springs, Arkansas).
A member of the American Society for Mohs Surgery and the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, the doctor is board-certified in dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology, which is one of the 24 medical specialty boards that make up the American Board of Medical Specialties. He is also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology at the New Jersey Medical School.
