  • What can you do to manage your diabetes?

Asking the question is a good indication that you care. You aren’t in denial which is the most dangerous mix. Denial and diabetes is the worst. I would get a continuous monitor and make sure my glucose levels were less than 100 before meals and less than 140 1 hour after a meal. Impulse control is critical. Good impulse brings happiness and an easy life. Poor impulse control brings misery. I have no more data or information about yourself so that’s all I can advise. Best Dr. Paul Norwood READ MORE

  • Does diet cause a child to get diabetes?

No, generally if he is not obese It is genetic Dr Norwood (Autoimmune) READ MORE

  • What causes someone to develop diabetes at an older age?

What causes diabetes? Well, that is quite a question. You are young, age 26, with diabetes. Why? You have an unhealthy lifestyle and are overweight and have used up your insulin (your body has just run out of insulin), or you inherited a gene that causes it, or you unluckily developed an autoimmune disease that has antibodies that destroyed or are destroying the islet cells. That is a simple basic way of looking at it. A c-peptide will tell you if you make any insulin at all. Since I know little about you, I can't give you more in-depth reasons. READ MORE

  • What anesthesia do you use for a thyroid biopsy?

I don’t use anesthesia. Using 3 needles 27 gauge causes less pain than the burning lidocaine that anesthetizes the entire neck Dr Norwood READ MORE

  • Diabetes and constipation

Because of the lack of data unable to answer How long have you had diabetes? READ MORE

  • What is the best diet for type 2 diabetes?

You know this answer! Really. The main goal isn’t what one eats but how much. Eating little carbohydrates makes taking care of diabetes easier and it lowers calories READ MORE

  • What type of anesthesia is the safest for a thyroid biopsy?

None To give anesthesia to the neck hurts more than using a 27 gauge needle 3 times. So I done aye anesthesia. A thyroid aspiration takes less than 15 minutes READ MORE

  • Levothyroxine and L carnitine

    1. yes however L carnitine has no value whatsoever. Please don't take it. Dr. Norwood READ MORE

  • Thyroid test results?

TSH high. You have thyroid resistance syndrome and need more thyroxine. Or extremely extremely extremely rare TSH secreting tumor of the pituitary. READ MORE

  • Diabetic finger stick?

The heel of the hand is certainly a place to obtain a glucose level but it is awkward. Most people prefer the side of a finger. We recommend a continuous glucose monitor to avoid this poking business. READ MORE

  • Do I have hyperthyroidism?

This mild hyperthyroidism should not cause symptoms. Best Dr Norwood READ MORE

  • Does diabetes causes you to have irregular sleep?

Insulin, which is a normal hormone, does not affect sleep, unless one takes too little (frequent urination from high sugar levels) or too much (hypoglycemia) Best regards. READ MORE

  • Diabetic question?

I would like to have more data, such as your age and your weight. If you are 80, well your glucose levels are fine. I am more aggressive than many doctors, if you are overweight, a Glp 1 like Ozempic or Trulicity would be great. If not, Jardiance or Farxiga would be great. WIth these medications, your Ha1c would fall to a nondiabetic level. Dr. Norwood READ MORE

  • Retrograde ejaculation?

Try Sudafed it may work. READ MORE

  • Can I drink alcohol after thyroid surgery?

Dear thyroid surgery person. Is it that important to know if you can drink alcohol after major surgery? That is a suspicious question. READ MORE

  • Hypothyroidism diagnosis?

This is the smallest dose possible. Your palpitations are not from the thyroid medication. Possibly anxiety? Let me reassure you. This is more than a reasonable dosage. READ MORE

  • What pregnant diabetics should eat?

There is little data here. What is your weight? Do you take insulin? I would recommend having a continuous glucose monitor. If the glucose goes up, above 140 Mg 1 hour after eating then that is not the right thing to eat. Again, I have so little to go on. That's the goal. Maybe insulin is needed to have sufficient calories. READ MORE

  • Why my blood pressure and blood sugar high?

The data you give is too little, What is your weight? What device do you use? The hand taken method is the most accurate for bp. Your blood pressure should never be high even in the MD's office. If it truly is only high there, which I doubt, then you can stress yourself into high BP. There are continuous bp monitoring systems. And continuous glucose monitoring devices are also available. READ MORE

  • How does general anesthesia affect diabetics?

Well, there is little data here, how long is surgery? Heart transplant? Bypass? Kidney transplant? Well I am going to assume that this is a short surgery,?Cholecystectomy? The key is for the anesthesiologist to monitor your diabetes during the surgery and he will treat it as the surgery is being done. I am sure the anesthesiologist will know that you're a diabetic. I would tell him or her what your glucose levels are and where during the day and if you take insulin or not. READ MORE

  • Is it dangerous to go under anesthesia with diabetes?

I know very little about you. How long you have had diabetes, how overweight you are etc. So there isn’t enough data to answer. READ MORE
