Reflections by an early adopter Endocrinologist with 34 years of experience about weight
Such a problem, obesity, affects 75% of the population. About 42% of the population is obese with a BMI of over 30 (body mass index). A normal BMI is less than 25, obese is over 30, malignant obesity is over 40. About 9% (one of every 11 persons) is massively overweight with a BMI over 40. When I...

My husband feels extremely tired and drained out. How can I help him?

Can type 2 diabetes ever be reversed?
Unfortunately not, however, it can be controlled very well. The day that he was diagnosed he had lost 66% of his insulin making capability. With a very compliant diet and medications the deterioration of the islet cells of the pancreas can be halted or at least slowed down dramatically. I have had patients see the light and control their diabetes for decades and have a better life than before diabetes. The party is over, unfortunately. READ MORE
When are insulin injections recommended for patients?
If there is not a rapid improvement in your diabetes then you should be on insulin. I have rarely seen such improvement when the glucose is so high. When the oral medication and glp1 medication are not effective with the Haic being above 6.5% then I advise insulin. READ MORE
How can one prevent diabetes if it is hereditary?
That is an impossible question to answer since there are different types of inheritance however lets say one has a tendency to gain weight and is out of shape. This is an insulin resistance diabetes usually and what happens is that the person's insulin needs are greater than the insulin making capability. They use up their insulin. The less that person eats the less insulin will be used up. They can become insulin sensitive. So nothing new here. Diet and exercise, and the more the better . READ MORE
