Coming from a family of doctors, Dr. Dutta earned his medical degree from Maulana Azad Medical College in New Delhi, India in 1970. Upon relocating to the United States, he completed his internship in internal medicine at Wayne State University. He was a resident at Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia and received fellowship training at the University of Maryland. He also completed a research sabbatical in cellular and molecular biology at the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases at the National Institutes of Health.
A Master of the American College of Gastroenterology (MACG) and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP), the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).
