How can I prevent corn in my feet from happening again?
Hello, Corns are usually caused by pressure on your bones. They are hard to prevent and normally are just maintained. You can try the multitude of pads from Pedifix most of my patients love the digital crest pads. Dr. Patel READ MORE
A glass pricked my foot and even after a month the spot hurts. What should I do?
Hello, If the glass was removed, you should not have to undergo tests. The pain is likely from the scar on the bottom of your foot. I would try rubbing vitamin E oil or use the silicone scar gel to soften it. Dr. Patel READ MORE
Can anyone get athlete's foot?
Hello, Yes, when you have a crack in the skin it is most likely a fungal infection. It can come from as you mentioned public areas but these also include pedicure places. I recommend that you treat it with a topical anti-fungal cream like Lamsil once daily for 10 days. It can spread in moist environments to other people in the house, so, to prevent this, use a shoe and floor sanitizing spray. Dr. Patel READ MORE
Is my ankle sprained?
Hello, You need to see a podiatrist. You likely sprained your ankle and if you do not go into a CAM boot for 2 weeks with X-ray follow up, it will heal in a weak position. Dr. Patel READ MORE
The skin on my left foot feels raw after standing for a long time. Why?
Yes, when you stand on your feet for long enough, you can get the sensation of numbness or tingling. This is usually due to compression on your nerves from either a foot deformity or it can be a closed toe shoe. I would wear open-toe memory foam sandals at home and this would resolve the issue. I have a painful, swollen ankle following an injury. What to do?
It seemed like you either now have a chronic weak ankle or your sprain is more than one ligament. You should get X-rays of your ankle and go into a walking boot. READ MORE
I am getting frequent ankle swelling. Can it be cured?
Hello Thank you for your question. It really depends on where the swelling is and what gear you are running in. It seems that it has to do with the veins in your ankle and I would recommend a study from your cardiologist before wearing compression socks during your run. If this is truly exercise induced, then wearing compression will help a lot and it shouldn’t return. Dr. Patel READ MORE
What's this feeling on the bottom of my toe?
Hello It seems as though it could be a few things, if you don’t feel anything in your skin, I would confirm that with a diagnostic X-ray or ultrasound. It could be a fibrous tissue mass under the toe. I would start with epsom salt soaks to help draw out anything stuck under the skin. Dr. Patel READ MORE
