Get to know Dentist Dr. Don D. Jones Jr., who serves patients in Georgia.

Dr. Jones Jr. has devoted his dental career to practicing healthy, holistic, non-invasive, biocompatible dentistry. With over 42 years experience in the field, he has been putting beautiful, healthy smiles on faces in Georgia since 1976. He opened his practice – Social Circle Dental – in 2004, and moved to his new location at Brookstone Place early in 2014.

From the day he graduated, he has made it his mission to give every patient the best care possible. Throughout his career, this passion for helping people has never faded; it has only been refined by the wisdom that comes with experience.

Back in the early days of his academic career, Dr. Jones Jr. attended Emory University, in Atlanta, Georgia for undergraduate studies. He then went on to earn his dental degree from Medical College of Georgia’s School of Dentistry in Augusta, Georgia in 1976. He has never stopped expanding his knowledge, and he dedicates many hours every year to continuing education, keeping up-to-date on the latest technology and acquiring new skills.

In 2002, when he experienced some personal health issues, it was suggested by his physician that they might have been mercury related. He made a personal choice to quit exposing himself, his staff, and his patients to mercury. In addition to the safety issue, it is known that amalgam fillings lead to fractures in teeth over time. His office does not even include the equipment needed to work with amalgam, except for removing it. So in 2002, he quit using any dental materials containing mercury.

One of the few dentists who have the skills to remove amalgam fillings without exposing the patient to harmful levels of mercury vapor while drilling, Dr. Jones Jr. received mercury safe training from the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology. He maintains membership in several respected dental organizations, including the Academy of General Dentistry, the International Association of Mercury Safe Dentists, the International Academy of Biological Medicine and Dentistry, the Holistic Dental Association, and the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology.

Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity. Dentists diagnose and treat dental issues and help patients develop better oral hygiene regimens. They clean teeth, correct bite issues, perform surgeries and extractions, and perform other duties to ensure that the teeth and mouth are healthy.

When he isn’t busy creating fantastic smiles, Dr. Jones Jr. enjoys working with computers, photography, ham radio, fishing, hunting, and participating in the church choir. He is married to his beautiful wife, is a proud father of five wonderful children, and is a respected pillar of the community in Social Circle, Georgia. He earned his Eagle Scout award when active in Scouting, and is an Assistant Scoutmaster for a local Boy Scout Troop. All three of his sons have also attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He is also active in his church and community events.
