A specialist in the field of dermatology, Dr. Flynn has a special interest in the diagnosis and management of skin cancer. He provides general and cosmetic dermatological care to patients at Westlake Dermatology & Cosmetic Surgery.
He has practiced dermatology in various locations, mostly academic including the University of Pittsburgh Medical School, prior to arriving in Austin, Texas in 1999. He brought his expertise to Westlake Dermatology & Cosmetic Surgery in 2006, where he leads the North Austin location.

Back in the early days of his academic career, Dr. Flynn graduated with his medical degree from the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine in 1976. He then went on to perform his internship and residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at Baylor College of Medicine, followed by his fellowships in both clinical dermatology and dermatopathology at M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center. He also received a Master of Science degree at the University of Minnesota, and then did a year-long fellowship in Mohs surgery under Fredrick Mohs in Madison, Wisconsin.
Providing personalized care for conditions of the skin, the doctor is board-certified in dermatology and dermatopathology by the American Board of Dermatology (ABD). The ABD is a voluntary, non-profit, private, autonomous organization formed for the primary purpose of protecting the public interest by establishing and maintaining high standards of training, education, and qualifications of physicians rendering care in dermatology.
Furthermore, he is board-certified in anatomic pathology & clinical pathology by the American Board of Pathology, whose mission is to serve the public and advance the profession of pathology by setting certification standards and promoting lifelong competency of pathologists.
A member of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society of Dermatopathology, Dr. Flynn has published numerous scientific articles and book chapters.
