Get to know Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr. Melissa Delgado, who serves the Washington DC metro area at her private practice The Chronic Pelvic Pain Center of Northern Virginia. Dr. Delgado attended medical school at Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara and New York Medical College before completing a residency at Riverside Regional Medical Center, where she served as Chief Resident. After seeing the benefits of integrative medicine, Dr. Delgado also became certified to practice acupuncture. She is an expert in robotic laser surgery for endometriosis and is also a MonaLisa Touch vaginal rejuvenation expert. Currently, Dr. Delgado serves patients at her own private clinic and several area hospitals, including Reston Hospital Center, Innova Fairfax and Innova Loudon hopsitals. She has been board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and holds a Virginia medical license. She is the only female surgeon specializing in healing chronic pelvic pain in the northern Virginia region. To stay current in her field, Dr. Delgado is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Throughout her career, she has earned many honors and accolades, including being named Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Designated Surgeon in 2016. Dr. Delgado’s approach to patient care combines traditional Western medicine treatments and alternative modalities for the best patient outcome possible. Obstetrician-gynecologists (OB/GYN) are physicians who possess special knowledge, skills and professional capability in the medical and surgical care of the femaFfamille reproductive system and associated disorders, enables them to serve as consultants to other physicians and as primary physicians for women. Obstetrics and gynecology is a broad and diverse branch of medicine, including surgery, management of the care of pregnant women, gynecologic care, oncology, and primary health care for women. Most OB/GYNs are generalists and see a variety of medical conditions in the office, perform surgery, and manage labor and delivery. Office practice consists of providing women with preventive examinations and other primary care and identifying gynecologic problems. Dr. Delgado speaks Spanish in addition to English at her practice, which allows her to reach a wide range of patients. She believes that by putting patients first throughout her medical practice is one of the most important aspects to healthcare and she is able to treat patients not just as a doctor, but as a woman as well.
