Get to know Physiatrist Dr. Emerald Lin, who serves patients in New York, New York.

Dr. Lin is a well-versed physiatrist with fellowship training in traumatic brain injury. She is currently an Assistant Attending Physiatrist at Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) Midtown in New York, New York.

As such, she has experience and expertise with managing acute and chronic concussion, both individually and with an interdisciplinary team, as well as with managing spasticity and musculoskeletal conditions. She also performs procedures such as ultrasound-guided peripheral joint injections and Botulinum toxin injections for chronic migrainous headaches and spasticity.

Offering better outcomes through specialization, the physiatrists at HSS perform non-operative treatment procedures on patients who have spinal and sports-related injuries as well as other musculoskeletal problems. These procedures are combined with medically supervised exercise therapies to restore mobility and function in patients who might otherwise require surgery.

Graduating with her medical degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Dr. Lin went on to perform her internship at Richmond University Medical Center. She then performed her residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, followed by her fellowship at UMDNJ/Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation.

A firm believer in patient education and partnership with the goal of restoring function and quality of life, Dr. Lin is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation & brain injury medicine by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR) The mission of the ABPMR is to serve the public by improving the quality of patient care in physical medicine and rehabilitation. This is accomplished through a process of certification and maintenance of certification that fosters excellence and encourages continuous learning.

Teaching students, Dr. Lin serves as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Rehabilitation Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College.
