How long does it take for gums to heal after extractions for dentures?
The initial healing usually takes about 2 weeks. This is when sutures are removed. However, over the course of 4-6 months your jaw will undergo significant changes. Graduating in the class of 2004 from Gates Chili High School, Dr. Ambrosio went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Science from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 2008. Furthering his education, he obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree and his Master of Science degree from the University of Detroit Mercy in 2014 and 2017, respectively. Remaining at the same educational venue, he earned a certificate in periodontal surgery.
He is board-certified in periodontics and dental implant surgery by the American Board of Periodontology, an organization which serves the public and the dental profession by administering the board certification process for experts in the dental specialty of periodontics.
In good standing with a number of professional organizations, Dr. Ambrosio is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Periodontology, the International Team for Implantology, the Divers Alert Network, and the New York State Dental Association (Peer Review and Quality Assurance Counsel).
His areas of research include bone grafting for future implant placement, immediate implant placement, and cosmetic periodontal surgery.

Happily married, he and his wife have two sons named Liam and Miles. They also have two dogs, Banjo and Rocky, and a cat named Ty. His family is originally from Portugal (came to the United States in 1969) and he is fluent in Portuguese.
Outside of the office, he enjoys spending time with his family, scuba diving, traveling, visiting family in Portugal, and flying his drones.
