She then attended Texas Tech University, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology and, later, a Master of Science in Biology. From there, she completed her Doctor of Medicine from Texas Tech University Health Science Center with Junior AOA Honors.

Dr. Lisa K. Longhofer  is a seasoned orthopedic surgeon and hand surgeon who treats patients at her cutting-edge private practice, Panhandle Ortho and Hand, located in Amarillo, Texas. The focus of her practice is restoring function and returning patients back to their activities and work.

After graduating Valedictorian from Booker High School, Dr. Longhofer went on to receive a Summa Cum Laude Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology (2003) and Master of Science degree in Biology (2004) at Texas Tech University. She then proceeded to complete her medical degree at Texas Tech University Health Science Center in Lubbock, TX, graduating with Junior AOA Honors and the Orthopaedic Surgery Rotation Award in 2008. 

Dr. Longhofer further pursued an orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Kansas in Wichita, KS (2008-2013), upon the completion of which she was recognized with the Charles E. Henning M.D. Memorial Research Prize by the Orthopaedic Research Institute. Moreover, she is fellowship-trained in orthopedic hand and upper extremity surgery at The Hand Center of San Antonio in San Antonio, Texas  (2013-2014). 

Following the completion of her specialized training, Dr. Longhofer attained board certification in orthopedic surgery and hand and upper extremity surgery through the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons (ABOS). The American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons. It is a member of the American Board of Medical Specialties.

According to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, “hand surgery is the field of medicine that deals with problems of the hand, wrist, and forearm. Hand surgeons care for these problems with and without surgery. They are specially trained to operate when necessary. Many hand surgeons are also experts in diagnosing and caring for shoulder and elbow problems”.

Dr. Longhofer’s professional memberships include the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Association of Hand Surgery, and the American Medical Association, the American Society Surgery of the Hand, the Potter-Randall County Medical Society, the Texas Orthopaedic Association, and the Texas Medical Association.
