Back in 1964, Dr. Sudanagunta graduated with his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree from Guntur Medical College in India. He then relocated to the United States, performing his internship at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.
Thereafter, he furthered his training with a residency in surgery at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago, where he served as chief resident. He also completed a Master of Public Health degree in Health Administration at USF in 1998.
A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), the doctor is board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.
General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal contents including the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, appendix and bile ducts, and often the thyroid gland.
