An accomplished professional, Dr. Mukhtar is an anatomic and clinical pathologist, cytopathologist, blood banking, and transfusion medicine specialist. 

With expertise in these diverse areas, he excels in his roles as Associate Professor of Pathology and Medical Director of Transfusion Services at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville. His extensive knowledge and experience contribute significantly to the advancement of medical education and patient care at the institution.

Educated in Pakistan, Dr. Mukhtar earned his medical degree from Khyber Medical College. He then relocated to the United States, pursuing his Anatomical and Clinical Pathology residency at Howard University Hospital in Washington D.C. 

In 2011, Dr. Mukhtar joined the University of Alabama at Birmingham to pursue fellowships in Surgical Pathology and Cytopathology. He then pursued a fellowship in Blood Banking / Transfusion Medicine at Institute of Transfusion Medicine /University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He joined the Department of Pathology, Immunology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Florida as a member of its faculty, after serving as Medical Director of Blood Bank for 2 ½ years at Howard University Hospital.

With an unwavering commitment to excellence, this doctor is board-certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine & Cytopathology by the American Board of Pathology (ABPath). The mission of the ABPath is to promote the health of the public and advance the practice and science of pathology by establishing voluntary certification standards and assessing the qualifications of those seeking to practice the specialty of pathology.
