Get to know Dermatologist Dr. John W. McDonald, who serves patients in Vero Beach, Florida.

Voted one of the best Dermatologists in Florida, Dr. McDonald is the Director of the Indian River Skin & Cancer Center in Vero Beach. He offers the most advanced medical and surgical treatments in all aspects of Dermatology, including MOHS surgery to treat skin cancer.

In addition to his full-time practice of Dermatology at the Indian River Skin & Cancer Center, Dr. McDonald is an Adjunct Professor of Dermatology at Florida State University. He is on staff at Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital, Sebastian River Medical Center, and HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital.

A graduate of Georgetown University School of Medicine, Dr. McDonald completed his residency in Internal  Medicine at Hahnemann University Hospital. He then went on to complete his residency in Dermatology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.   

A Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology & a Fellow of the American Society of MOHS Surgery, he is Board Certified in Dermatology by the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) as well as in Internal Medicine.  

Named a 2021 Top Doctor by Castle Connelly, Dr. McDonald has served as the President of the Indian River County Medical Society. He has also served as Head of the Department of Dermatology at Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital.

Dermatology is the branch of medicine dealing with diseases of the  skin, hair & nails. As a dermatologist, Dr. McDonald specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of Skin Cancer.
