As a board-certified physiatrist, Dr. Sloan’s areas of expertise include non-operative spine care, interventional spine injections, and electrodiagnostic medicine. He can be found on staff at Resurgens Orthopaedics - St. Joseph’s/Sandy Springs location in Atlanta, Georgia.
Resurgens Orthopaedics was first established in 1986 by Dr. John Garrett, whose vision was to provide excellent, innovative, patient-focused, and comprehensive orthopaedic care to the greater Atlanta community. In 1999, seven independent physician groups merged to form one practice under the existing name of Resurgens Orthopaedics. Since that time, Resurgens has grown to become a household name throughout Georgia, with 24 offices serving local communities in and around the metro area.
A 1992 graduate of the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine, Dr. Sloan completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City, New York. He then went on to complete his fellowship in sports medicine at Hughston Clinic in Columbus, Georgia.
Pertaining to his academic rank, he also serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Emory School of Medicine in Atlanta. He has taught at the North American Spine Society’s Spine Injection Workshop and has contributed research to medical textbooks and peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Sloan is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, which was established in 1947 as the certifying body for the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation under the American Board of Medical Specialties. Additionally, he is board-certified in electrodiagnostic medicine by the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine, an independent credentialing body in electrodiagnostic medicine whose goal is to promote high quality patient care.
For the purpose of advancing his efforts, Dr. Sloan remains a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Pain Medicine, the American College of Sports Medicine, the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, the International Spine Intervention Society, and the North American Spine Society. Moreover, he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and a Fellow of the American Academy of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine.
