Dr. Lackamp is a board-certified psychiatrist. She serves as the Director of the Division of Psychiatry and Medicine at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Founded in 1866, University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center has a long history of providing exceptional healthcare for the residents of Northeast Ohio. With more than 1,000 registered beds, the Center provides primary, specialty and subspecialty medical and surgical care. The focus on medical education at University Hospitals in 1895 led to formal ties with what is now the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
Dr. Lackamp is also the Director of University Hospital’s Pain Management Institute. Furthermore, she is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and the Director of the Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship Program in the Department of Psychiatry at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
Trained as a consultation-liaison psychiatrist, Dr. Lackamp values the important interface between psychiatry and medicine. Her main focus is the provision of comprehensive care for patients with co-occurring medical and psychiatric concerns in the general hospital. In addition to direct patient care, Dr. Lackamp participates in many liaison activities to heighten clinician awareness of patients with psychiatric issues. She has presented widely on such topics both locally and nationally.
Dr. Lackamp earned her medical degree from the Northeast Ohio Medical University in Rootstown, Ohio in 2003. She then went on to complete her internship and residency in psychiatry at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, followed by a fellowship in psychosomatic medicine at the George Washington University in 2008.
Dr. Lackamp is past-president of both the Cleveland Consultation-Liaison Society and the Cleveland Psychiatric Society. She is also a Fellow of the Academy of Consultation Liaison Psychiatry, a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, and a member of the Ohio Psychiatric Physicians Association.
Dr. Lackamp has been voted Best Doctors in America by Best Doctors, Inc. three times since 2013. She has also been the recipient of numerous teaching awards, including Faculty of the Year, as voted by her residents.
Dr. Lackamp is board-certified in psychiatry, psychosomatic medicine, and consultation-liaison psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting high quality patient care for the public through the initial and continuing certification of psychiatrists and neurologists.
Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to diagnosing, preventing, and treating mental disorders. These include various maladaptations related to mood, behavior, cognition, and perceptions.
