Get to know Orthopedic Hand Surgeon and Upper Extremity Surgeon, Dr. Gonzalo Barinaga, who serves patients in Franklin, Wisconsin.

Dr. Baringa is an orthopedic hand and upper extremity surgeon practicing at Midwest Orthopedic Specialty Hospital in Franklin, Wisconsin. Furthermore, he is on staff at The Orthopedic Institute of Wisconsin in Wauwatosa and Franklin, St. Francis Outpatient Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, The Surgery Center in Franklin, Wisconsin, Wauwatosa Surgery Center, and Ascension Wisconsin hospitals.

A 2013-graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in Madison, Wisconsin, Dr. Baringa served his orthopedic surgery residency at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, Illinois (2018), as well as his fellowship in hand surgery and microsurgery at the University of Washington Harborview Trauma Center in Seattle, Washington. 

Following the completion of her specialized training, Dr. Baringa attained board certification in orthopedic surgery and hand and upper extremity surgery through the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons (ABOS). The American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons. It is a member of the American Board of Medical Specialties.

Hand surgery is the field of medicine that deals with problems of the hand, wrist, and forearm. Hand surgeons care for these problems with and without surgery. They are specially trained to operate when necessary. Many hand surgeons are also experts in diagnosing and caring for shoulder and elbow problems.

Dr. Barinaga is fluent in both English and Spanish.
