In regards to his educational background, Dr. Sepahpanah obtained his medical degree from Tehran University of Medical Sciences, School of Medicine in Iran in 1990. After relocating to the United States, he served his internship in internal medicine at Griffin Hospital in 1999 and his residency in physical medicine & rehabilitation at Hahnemann University Hospital in 2002. This was followed by advanced fellowships in spinal cord injury at the University of Washington Affiliated Hospitals in 2003 and at Seattle VA Medical Center in 2004.

With a focus on fibromyalgia and spinal cord injury, the doctor is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation & spinal cord injury medicine by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR). The mission of the ABPMR is to serve the public by improving the quality of patient care in physical medicine and rehabilitation. This is accomplished through a process of certification and maintenance of certification that fosters excellence and encourages continuous learning.
