Get to know Vascular, General, and Trauma Surgeon Dr. Bahraum Daniel Daneshfar, who serves patients in Amarillo, Texas.

Dr. Daneshfar is an esteemed vascular, general, and trauma surgeon. Since January of 2019, he has been serving as the Director of West Texas Vascular Surgery Center in Amarillo, Texas.

At his state-of-the-art outpatient cath lab, some of the conditions that he treats include peripheral arterial disease, claudication, arterial stenosis or occlusion, venous disease, deep venous thrombosis (including IVC filter placement and removal), dialysis access creation and management (including fistula-gram and intervention May-Thurner Syndrome), and critical limb ischemia. His approach and attitude towards his patients is always kind and compassionate – they love him. 

Trained in vascular medicine, endovascular surgery, and open vascular surgery, Dr. Daneshfar offers the most appropriate intervention for the patient relating to a better outcome. His care philosophy is “Prevention is better than a cure, if you don’t make time for your wellness, you will be forced to make time for your illness.”

Before embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Daneshfar graduated with his medical degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in 2006. Upon graduation, he went on to perform his residency in general surgery at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine in 2013, followed by his fellowship in vascular surgery at Baylor University Medical Center in 2015.

Subsequent to his training, he attained board certification in surgery through the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

Learning and staying up-to-date on the most life-saving techniques, he holds certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support, Basic Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support.

Continuously advancing his professional efforts, Dr. Daneshfar remains an active member of the North American Spine Society, the Texas Medical Association, the American Medical Association, the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, and the Society for Vascular Surgery (Fellow). 

Vascular surgery is a surgical subspecialty in which diseases of the vascular system, or arteries, veins and lymphatic circulation, are managed by medical therapy, minimally-invasive catheter procedures, and surgical reconstruction. A vascular surgeon diagnoses, treats, and manages conditions in the arteries and veins, also called the blood vessels. These specialists treat a range of health problems, from spider and varicose veins to life-threatening aneurysms, and can help patients manage chronic conditions throughout their lives.

General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal contents including the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, appendix and bile ducts, and often the thyroid gland. A general surgeon performs a wide range of abdominal surgeries for many forms of intestinal and abdominal wall neoplasms, gallbladder disease, gastric and pancreatic disease. They follow the patient through critical care and surgical recovery all the way to outpatient care. 

Trauma surgery is a surgical specialty that utilizes both operative and non-operative management to treat traumatic injuries, typically in an acute setting. Trauma surgeons generally complete residency training in general surgery and often fellowship training in trauma or surgical critical care. They are responsible for treating bone fractures, cuts, internal injuries, burns, and shock. They also perform surgery to repair penetrating and blunt-force injuries.
