Washington Nephrology Associates, LLP is a partnership of physicians that has been practicing nephrology in the Greater Metropolitan DC and Baltimore area since 1984. Over the years, the partnership has continued to grow and now has a strong presence in Washington, Baltimore, Bethesda, Alexandria, Takoma Park, Silver Spring, Fairfax, Woodbridge, and Annapolis.

Born and raised in Lahore, Pakistan, Dr. Hashmi completed medical school at Aga Khan University Medical College in Karachi. Upon relocating to the United States, he completed his residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in nephrology at the West Virginia University Hospitals in Morgantown. 

Following his education, the doctor became board-certified in both internal medicine and nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine, a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Nephrology is a specialty of medicine and pediatrics that concerns itself with the kidneys. It is the study of normal kidney function and kidney disease, the preservation of kidney health, and the treatment of kidney disease, from diet and medication to renal replacement therapy.
