Recognized as a top pulmonologist, Dr. Ryon is affiliated with Deaconess Pulmonary Critical Care, at locations in Midtown (Evansville) and Gateway (Newburgh), Indiana. 

“Lung problems can be really scary.  Whether it’s not being able to breathe, having a spot on your X-ray, or uncontrollable coughing, all these things normally cause anxiety,” says Dr. Ryon. “I enjoy helping people eliminate these problems, or at least identify and improve them.”

Dr. Ryon graduated from college ‘magna cum laude’ with his Bachelor of Science degree from Duke University. He earned his medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Thereafter, he completed his internship, residency in internal medicine, and fellowship in pulmonary disease with the NYU Grossman School of Medicine, followed by an additional fellowship in critical care medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

Holding triple board certification, the doctor is board-certified in pulmonary disease, critical care medicine, and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Dr. Ryon is a former President of Medical Staff at Deaconess Hospital, and is currently Medical Director of Patient Safety and Member of the Board of Directors for that organization. He also Co-Chairs the Quality Committee for the Board of Directors for Deaconess Health System.
