A family tradition of excellence in ophthalmology, Elander Eye Care opened its doors in 1963 when Richard Elander MD began private practice. He was joined by his son, Troy Elander MD, in 1990. The office prides itself not only on providing the highest medical care to every patient it treats, but also in creating a caring family environment.

Academically, Dr. Karimi completed her undergraduate studies at UCLA and received her medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 2001. She then went on to perform her internship and residency in ophthalmology at the University of Kansas Medical Center; where she received numerous honors and accolades, including the Intern of the Year Award.
Achieving excellence in her field, she is board-certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology, an independent, nonprofit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists (eye physicians and surgeons) in the United States. She is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (FAAO).
Passionate about patient education, Dr. Karimi has contributed to ophthalmology newsletter publications. She has affiliations with various Kaiser Permanente hospitals throughout Southern California, and has appeared on several foreign language news programs in an effort to bring awareness to the important role of regular ophthalmic care in the early detection of eye disease and prevention of vision loss.
