Which antidepressants are bad for my health?
Many antidepressants can be bad for your health. You always have to weigh risk and benefits. Celexa can prolong QTC interval. Remeron, Paxil, Prozac you can gain weight. Side effect of Effexor can increase blood pressure. Side effect of Wellbutrin lower seizure threshold. With that being said. Not every patient has side effects. Paxil and celexa can cause heart issues for inuterune fetus if a mother was taking them. How long should I drink antidepressants for depression?
FDA recommends that with your first depressive episode you treat the depression until it is remission for 1 year. If you have break through depression before the year you reset the time until symptom free. The reason why is that you can treat depression with medication and individual therapy. Some people have used St. John’s wart with benefit. 5HTP has been shown to help balance 5 hydroxytryptophan serotonin with L theanine vitamin B and folate. Max dosage was 150mg per day. Dr. Allick has extensive experience practicing psychiatry with a career spanning over 20 years. He acknowledges that it is only when we live our true self that we find happiness, and takes a holistic approach, integrating both the western and eastern philosophy of medicine, to help his patients pursue their goals.
At Quality Life Counseling, he treats all psychiatric conditions, and is highly skilled in working with trauma, grief, palliative care, leadership skills, and mindfulness-based CBT. His experience includes treatment of all age groups and he has worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings. He has also worked extensively with Native American populations as well as refugee populations.
Obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from University of North Dakota, Dr. Allick went on to embark on his medical journey. He graduated with his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School in 1996, after which he went on to further his training. He completed his residencies in psychiatry at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in Madison and at the John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu.
Passionate about his profession, the doctor is board-certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.
