Dr. Lee, a seasoned interventional cardiologist, is the Founder of California Cardiac Institute in Glendale, California. As one of the most active heart specialists in southern California, Dr. Lee has performed thousands of procedures, specializing in percutaneous coronary angioplasty, coronary rotablator, stent implantations, TEC atherectomy, and numerous revascularization techniques and procedures. A graduate of Yonsei University Medical College, Dr. Lee went on to serve his internship at Uniontown Hospital. Wanting to further his training, he completed his residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in cardiovascular disease at Shadyside Hospital.
A Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and a Fellow of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (FSCAI), the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine, interventional cardiology, and cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Recognized as one of the few groundbreaking cardiologists in the world, Dr. Lee’s work has been published in professional journals. He is the author of ‘Dealing With Heart Problems’ and has given many lectures and presentations throughout his 50+ years of practicing medicine.
Interventional cardiology is the subspecialty of cardiology that deals specifically with the catheter-based treatment of heart diseases. The field includes the diagnosis and treatment of coronary artery disease, vascular disease, and acquired structural heart disease. An interventional cardiologist is a cardiologist with one to two years of additional education and training in diagnosing and treating cardiovascular disease, as well as congenital and structural heart conditions through catheter-based procedures, such as angioplasty and stenting.
Fluent in both English and Korean, Dr. Lee has been the recipient of several awards throughout his fruitful career, including Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2011, 2012) and Patients’ Choice Award (2011, 2012).
