Experience: After obtaining her Medical Degree Dr. Adamson completed her obstetrics/gynecology residency from the University of Maryland Medical System in Baltimore, MD. Before relocating to South Jersey in 1999, Dr. Adamson spent eight years in private Ob/Gyn practice in Columbia, Maryland. After practicing for an additional eight years in Voorhees, NJ. She is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. To remain up to date in her field she remains a Fellow of the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and a member of the Ob-Leadership Committee, and the Physician Champion for Baby Friendly. She has received the American Medical Association Physician Excellence Award and is listed by the American Top Physician in Obstetrics and Gynecology by the Consumers’ Research Council. She was also the recipient of Virtua Hospital’s “Super Star Award” for her outstanding team leadership in Labor and Delivery. Current Position: Dr. Adamson currently practices with advocare The OB/GYN Specialists. She worked with Dr. Godorecci, another doctor within the practice, to found the OB/GYN Specialists in 2006. At Virtua Hospital, Dr. Adamson is the Director of the post-partum floors. Obstetrics & Gynecology: Obstetrician-gynecologists (OB/GYN) are physicians who possess special knowledge, skills and professional capability in the medical and surgical care of the female reproductive system and associated disorders, enables them to serve as consultants to other physicians and as primary physicians for women. Obstetrics and gynecology is a broad and diverse branch of medicine, including surgery, management of the care of pregnant women, gynecologic care, oncology, and primary health care for women. Most OB/GYNs are generalists and see a variety of medical conditions in the office, perform surgery, and manage labor and delivery. Office practice consists of providing women with preventive examinations and other primary care and identifying gynecologic problems. Dr. Adamson has an expertise in laparoscopic surgery. She brings decades of compassion and experience to obstetrics as well, especially high-risk obstetrics. Her experience in high risk obstetrics is well recognized by Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) specialists that practice throughout the region. The OB/GYN Specialists routinely receive referrals from MFM practices for their high-risk patients. Dr. Adamson has special expertise with mothers expecting twins, including cases when the second twin is not head first and mothers prefer a vaginal delivery instead of an automatic C-section.
