How successful is cognitive behavioral therapy?
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is quite effective in the hands or an experienced practitioner and when the patient is a suitable consumer. By "suitable" consumer, I mean someone whose temperament and personality is more focused towards concrete problems and their solutions. Typically such patients are very earnest and are looking for solutions in a structured setting. The relationship with the therapist is also quite important as is the case with most psychotherapies. The treatment has the best chance of succeeding if the patient respects the therapist who ideally would be a person of the same temperament. READ MORE
